Bill, there is already so much you have endured in your life. You have not let the racism you and your family faced while growing up make you a victim. It in fact, has made you a stronger man. I think of the beatitudes, blessed are the merciful for they shall be shown mercy. Blessed are those who are persecuted for their righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. You have been a shining example of standing up to persecution and even showing mercy to those who showered you with racist jeers. You have been example to young men today on how to make peace with each other. May these promises of God be poured out just as it is written on you His faithful servant.
